Day 355

I have been so looking forward to this 355th Day of  The Red Shoe Project.  Bonnie and I both sported our RED shoes as we headed out with the "Angels of Hope" to deliver huge Christmas shopping bags filled with all sorts of practical items, gifts and goodies to women who might otherwise go without this holiday season.

Two months ago we announced at The Bonfire that we wanted to partner with Tammy Young's Heart to Heart women's group in putting together bags stuffed and overflowing with all sorts of Christmas goodies for women in need.  Tammy's church - Church of Hope - has a ministry that goes into the inner city and teaches children all about Jesus.

Every Christmas they show up at a couple different locations with shoeboxes filled with all sorts of Christmas fun for the kids.  Last year,  Heart to Heart  decided to piggy back on that event and include gift totes for all the moms.

Moms are awesome!  Have you ever noticed that they always put their kids first?  They will sacrifice at great length to give to their children -- even if it means that they, personally, will go without.  Why is that?

Did God inject that special quality
into Eve's DNA when he created woman?

Bonnie and I showed up at Hope Church bright and early.  What it treat it was to bring Christmas joy to the inner city of our community.  We prayed, packed the vans with tote bags, headed to the local park, and greeted the women as they came out for the morning program with their children.  The kids' program was at one end of the park, while the ministry to moms was at the other end.

We started off promptly with light refreshments and Christmas carols. Following that, a dear sister shared her testimony and a brief Christmas message.  After a group prayer for salvation, the  team ministered one-on-one  to all the women wanting prayer.  Finally -- when the children received their boxes -- we passed out the tote bags to the moms.

My favorite part of the day was when we prayed for people individually.  I could have done that all afternoon.  God's Spirit was faithfully present to touch people's hearts and lives.

At one point, I looked out into the crowd and asked if anyone else needed prayer.  I was surprised that there wasn't a response because, inside me,  the Holy Spirit was jumping up and down.  I walked throughout the people making eye contact with every woman.

*           *          *

"Is there anyone here whose kids are struggling with drugs?"
I shouted for all to hear.

"I say that because I was once in that exact same place and
I've seen the power of God break the spirit of addiction
 in my own son's life!

I'd like to pray with you personally.  Please come and see me."

*          *          *

Nothing.    No one.
How could that be?
It didn't make sense -- not when the Holy Spirit was prompting me so urgently to say those things.

Suddenly one of the gals who was part of the ministry team, came over to me and pulled me aside.  I remember thinking to myself... "Oh no, she's going to reprimand me.  Perhaps I shouldn't have made that announcement.  Maybe she thought it was offensive to people."

Her first words to me were, "What did you just say to those people?"  Yikes!  I'm in trouble.  What could I say?   I repeated what I said word for word.  Then she did what I never expected.  She put her hands on my shoulders, pulled me towards her and looked right in my eyes.  "I'm one of those people!  I need your prayers!"  With that, the Holy Spirit fell.  I began to sob as I prayed from the depths of my soul for her daughter who was in desperate need of deliverance.  I don't know what everybody else was doing in that moment, but we were having a meeting with God!

Before I knew it, all the bags had been given out and we were packing up the tables and chairs.  It was already time to go.  Bonnie and I drove off talking to one another about the wonders of God.  We had a glorious time!

Now what I didn't know was that she was part of another surprise that was waiting for me at home.  As she dropped me off at my house, I invited her to come in for a few minutes.  There at the door was a display of wonderfully decorated gifts from my friends at Hope and the Bonfire.  Oh my gosh!  What an unexpected surprise!  All little necessities and niceties wrapped up in bows -- some direct answers to prayer.  The thought that they would do that never crossed my mind.  While I had been  busy about my Father's business, He was working through these ladies to take care of my business.

Awesome!

And of course, amongst it all was a much needed pair of new RED shoes!

THANK YOU dear friends!

Day 354

I was up early on this 354th Day of  The Red Shoe Project.  I showered, got dressed, threw on my RUBY REDS and was ready for anything by ten o'clock.  At the last minute, however, all my morning and afternoon plans got cancelled.  No worries! That gave me more quality time with the Lord.  I'm all for that!   My morning was spent in prayer and my afternoon was spent  in His Word as I collected my thoughts for tonight's Bible study at the home of some dear friends.

An interesting vision has captured my attention.  As I knelt down to pray,  I caught a glimpse of my hands in a way that I'd never noticed them before.

I could have and should have so easily
missed it -- overlooked it -- not taken notice of it.

It's one of those things that you just do and don't think about it any further.  But when the Holy Ghost decides to speak, that everyday thing becomes center stage.  The spotlight shines directly on it!   He has the most unique way of enhancing the most intricate details of something in order to present His thoughts to me.

I found myself captivated!

There I was, on my knees, getting ready to pray.  My hands were interlocked together (kind of like how a little kid prays at meal time).  I was fascinated at how perfectly my hands fit together and the strong bond they created.

With the clock ticking away, I made a note to myself to write that down in my little book of important details regarding marriage.  I want my relationship with my husband to be like that:

 Tight. - Strong. - Bonded.

Just then, I saw the Lord's hand cover both hands.

"Okay... It's done!" He said.

In that very moment, the power of God rushed through my entire body.  WOW!  It was like plugging into a power outlet.  KABOOM!  How unexpectedly wonderful!  What a fabulous promise!

Now I can't get that thought out of my head.  Everywhere I look I see people's hands folded like that.  Not to mention "It's done!"  keeps replaying over and over in my mind.  It's a nice feeling!

Just the other day, at The Bonfire, a woman who's only attended one other time, heard me mention that I was getting married.  She's very prophetic.  I really don't know her, but I could tell just being around her.  I could see the Holy Spirit manifesting in quirky little ways as she spoke to me.  That kind of thing used to wig me out, but not so much any more.  The Holy Spirit works differently in different people and I get that.

"You are a bride!"  she said
"I can see it!  --  Wow!
This is going to be a BIG wedding  --
IMPORTANT!"

Little does she know.  I'm not one to put all my eggs in the basket of what a prophet, of sorts, has to say.  But even still,  I will say this... Based on what I know, she's right on the money.  For now, I will ponder such spiritual matters in my heart and see what comes of them in time.

Day 353

Today is Day 353 of  The Red Shoe Project.   Where does the time go?  There's only a dozen days left to this year and I am doing my best to savor each day with Christ.  I'm staying home more and more, turning down invitations here and there, and cherishing my alone time with Him.

I put on my RED shoes, early this morning, and now I'm about to take them off.  The day is a bit of a blurr.  Just what did I do today?  I'm not quite sure.  A few little things here and there, but mostly I prayed.  I find myself praying in the spirit a lot these days.  Sometimes I can hear the interpretation in my mind, and other times it's a private conversation between the Holy Spirit and The Father.
"And pray in the Spirit
on all occasions with all
kinds of prayers and requests."
Ephesians 6:18a

As much as I love hearing the interpretation, I'm not offended when I don't know the specifics of the prayers going up on my behalf.  I trust fully in God's wisdom when it comes to what I should and shouldn't know.   Regarding those things that He has chosen to let me in on, all I can say is I'm humbled and overwhelmed by His love.  So often His thoughts and ideas are far too great for me to comprehend.  My eyes fill up with tears as I try to make sense on how such things could possibly happen -- but in time, they always do!

The challenge is just believing that He will do what He says He will do and following through with appropriate actions even though nothing has manifested yet.  Even so, I've noticed that my "BELIEVING"  muscles are much stronger than they were when I started this project.  When I find myself thinking too much, I just resort to prayer and worship.  It shuts out the devil and  keeps my mind focused on God.  I don't worry so much about things that I have no control over.

"Can any one of you by worrying
add a single hour to your life?"
Matthew 6:27
 NOPE!

I'm enjoying the prayer closet more and more -- even when it's just in my mind.  The companionship of The Holy Spirit has become sweeter than ever.  I guess that's because I don't have to dig, anymore,  through so many distractions and layers of stuff to find Him.

Granted... He's always been with me,
but now...  I'm always with Him.

Day 352

Today marks Day 352 of  The Red Shoe Project!  You'll find me dressed to the nines in my...

 RED Footwear,
 Armor of God,
Garment of Praise,
 and
Spirit of Joy!

From afar, it might look like I'm just wearing jeans, a sweater, and RED shoes, but come closer.   Sit with me and chat awhile.  You'll discover that I'm telling the truth.

I woke up this morning with a song on my lips.  God had elected to make my heart merry.   I love when that happens!  In fact, there were many songs.  I couldn't help myself.  There I was belting out those old time choruses,
one after another, after another.   My daughter overheard me and started to giggle.

When I wasn't singing, I was shouting praises to God at the top of my voice.

"Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!
I love You, Lord!"

Once that started,  I headed into my prayer room and closed the door behind me.  I felt a prayer meeting coming on!  It doesn't happen like that every day, but when it does, it's glorious!

My heart was overflowing with music.  At one point I caught myself singing a song in another language -- only the melody was a familiar Christmas tune.  I had to wonder if I was singing that specific song in a language known to someone, somewhere on this planet -- or perhaps it was just for the angels.  For the life of me, I couldn't remember the words to the song in English.  Hopefully I got them right in the language in which I was singing.  LOL.   How bizarre!

Later in the day, I discovered that several of my friends were in need of prayer.  It's the Elijah Syndrome.  They have just poured out their hearts in ministry and now, as they rest from that outpouring, they are vulnerable to the enemy's attack.  I've been there, myself, many times.  Today, however, I was interceding on their behalf, that God would be their refuge and strength in this time of potential trouble.  Look at the scripture I found while reading God's Word.

"Because You are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings."
Psalm 63:7

Whenever I read scriptures like this, I always picture God like a giant eagle.  There I am tucked under His wing and pressed in close to His heart.

In that place...
 I am safe.
I am loved.
I am warmed.

There's nothing better than that!   No one can harm me when I'm that close to Daddy!  No one!

God is our refuge and strength,
 an ever-present help in trouble."
Psalm 46:1

Praying God's Word,
