Day 286

It's Day 286 of  The Red Shoe Project and all day I have been in RED shoes, basking in God's overwhelming love.  It all started when I took Pauly for his morning walk.  There I was just chatting with God and BOOM!  My eyes filled up with tears.

What are you doing God?

Later I was prayer walking -- RED sneakers and all -- praying for this person and that one -- when suddenly BOOM!  My eyes filled up again.  Really?

Okay, I showered up, got dressed, hopped in my car and headed out to the grocery store.  Nothing spiritual about that.  I was just talking with God as I drove along the road and...  BOOM!  It happened again!

As the day went on, I found myself talking on the phone with a girlfriend.  She said to me, "Let me say a little prayer for you before I go!"  Her words were the interpretation of my heart's plea.  As she spoke them, I pulled off the road into some random parking lot, bowed my head and agreed with her.  Next thing I knew, I was leaking tears, sniffling and searching for kleenex in the glove.

Each time was the same.  It was as if God opened a portal of my heart and poured in His love.  I can't help it!  I cry when God comes near.  With it came glimpses of future possibilities -- snapshots of God's will for me.

Was I getting a peek at
God's present plan for me,
complete with an overlay
of His future promises?

When my oldest daughter was about 6 years old, she told me the most wonderful thing as I tucked her into bed one night.

"Mommy, "  she said.  "It's as if Jesus put a little hole in my heart and stuffed a straw in it.  He puts all sorts of wonderful things into my heart through that straw.  Lots of love,  joy, songs -- all good stuff -- until there's no more room.  Then He slides down the straw Himself, and my heart closes up!  It's so full, it's almost bursting!"

"Really?"  I responded."How often does He do that?"

In her quietest voice she smiled, (as if she knew something I didn't),  and whispered, "He does that every day!  (pause)  Good night Mommy!"
and off she dozed into a restful sleep.

Wow!  I was overwhelmed then and I'm overwhelmed now, just reading it.  Doesn't your heart just cry out:

 "I want that!"

Well... today I got that!
All while wearing RED shoes.

Always expecting,

Gail
