Day 47

I woke up on the 47th Day of  The Red Shoe Project and almost immediately headed outdoors in my RED flats,  to walk our dog.  Pauly is an English bulldog, and I love him!!!

He can be high maintenance at times, but not really, because that doesn't really matter when you're part of  "The Family."  Besides, he's always there eagerly waiting for me when I come home.   Affectionate as can be.  Joyful in spirit.  Protective beyond measure.    Not to mention, he's the Ultimate Great Listener!   I can say anything and he always understands.  Plus, he's not overly-opinionated.  LOL.

There's always a day, here or there, when I wish we didn't have to go for  "Our" morning walk.  But more often than not, I can't wait to get out there.  I'm starting to wonder... Am I walking him? or  Is he walking me? Seriously, I can't get out of the house fast enough.  "The walk" is usually my first outdoor  experience, and I'm eager to get a glimpse of what the day has to offer.

Almost always... it's Gorgeous!  Remember, I live in Sarasota, Florida.  We call it  "Paradise" here. It's just beautiful.  The weather. The neighborhood. The beach. The bridge. The arts. The lifestyle.  The people. It's all good!  But  the "morning walk" is ever so precious.  How I approach it impacts my entire day!

I'd like to say that as soon as I step out the front door, I consistently embrace all the world has to offer with open arms.  For the most part, I do, but on occasion, I'm still half asleep and my dog is going full speed ahead, dragging me along. LOL.  (That will wake you up, real fast!)  Within moments, however, I am breathing in the fresh air, and smiling in amazement of just how good God is!

The sky is a delightful blue. The clouds, if any, are white and puffy.   The trees are a luscious green, (although some are even pink or purple).
And my favorite of all?  The butterflies!  They always seem to catch me by surprise as they flutter about. One day, a butterfly brought me right by this bush that had the most amazing lilac flowers on it. I have never seen a flower quite like this one.  It resembled a lace napkin.  It looked like it was crocheted. I'm serious!

It's hard to focus on my RED shoes, when God's creation is screaming at me for my attention. It all makes me smile.  This awesome scenery is where I get to play out my life. Truly, He is the Divine Creator... the Artist of all artists!

I'm reminded of that old saying,
"Don't forget to stop and smell the roses."

And so why does it take my dog to lead me to this place?
Truth be told, I could so easily run around like crazy - all the time -
without ever stopping - and miss it all!

How sad is that?

But walking the dog in RED shoes is helping me not to do that!    I'm realizing that "Our" morning walk is a threesome:  God, Me and Pauly. I may be walking Pauly, but God is walking me!  We walk & talk,  stop & smell,  breath-in & smile.  He makes sure that I don't "miss out" on all the good stuff, because He knows I need all this.  He knows the magnitude of how all this will keep me in balance throughout the entire day. He knows... because He created me.

Am I blessed or what? My Divine Creator takes time, each morning, to walk with me.   I've got a good thing going on here!
